“The best things in life aren’t things.”
– Art Buchwald, Humorist
NATIONAL DUDLEY ON THE BEST THINGS
I am a self-proclaimed minimalist. At least I try to be.
I attach very little, if any, value to name brands, fancy cars, or flashy clothes. For me, my life is forever enriched by the things you can’t touch – the waterfall I hiked to with my family, the rock wall I watched my daughter climb, the appreciation I see on a tired mom’s face when I offer to take her shopping buggy back to the store.
There are moments every single day that can make your heart skip a beat, but if you’re blinded by the constant need for something more, you’ll miss the things that matter most.
No matter who you are or what you do for a living, someone will always have something just a little cooler, a little newer, or a little shinier than you. One can only hope to have the ability to see the immeasurable value in those things that are intangible, as well. Those moments are here and gone in a fleeting instant, but can leave a profound impact on your life or the life of someone else.
What are your best things?
